Backstage at Alexander Wang's Fall 2014 show, it was downright jarring to see some of the show's models with their hair turned black—including superstars like Karlie Kloss, Candice Swanepoel (above) and Angela Lindvall. I pride myself in knowing my models but it took me forEVER to figure out who Candice was. You know the tacky black matte spray balding men use to masquerade their missing hairs? THEY USED THAT on our precious models. The hair's shape was quite severe and the hair team used only two products to achieve the look. Legendary hairstylist Guido used Redken Control Addict 28, then scraped hair into a deep side part, finishing with Redken Shine Flash. The inspiration, according to Guido:  "It was taken from a fashion illustration Alex had done, so I wanted hair that was very kind of drawn on; like an illustration. It does feel kind of boyish, a little bit '60s but it's not a '60s idea, but it's something people did in the sixites— like a man's hair, swept over. It's a strangeness; you don't know where it comes from." On top of that, the models underwent some brow bleaching. (In some cases, it looked very painful. We saw several models wincing in pain from the burning sensation on their skin). "We've been here since 4 o'clock [bleaching brows]," says makeup artist Diane Kendal. The makeup was predictably bare, as the face painter used the word 'mannequin' to describe the look, with just a touch of highlighter on the top of the cheekbones.
