Low maintenance night look
To bump up the look at night, add an interesting statement eye: try a winged eyeliner or smoky eye. Apply a kohl eyeliner pencil along the lash line and blend out for a soft, worn-in look. For a bold smoky eye, smudge liner along the lid as a base and add a shimmery jade green or champagne eye shadow. Add an ivory highlighter along the brow bone. “It takes a few minutes for high impact,” says Rinaldi.

To help your skin stay fresh until evening, especially for an after-work event or date, set your powder foundation heavier in the morning to absorb excess oils throughout the day. “Not only is matte skin on trend this season,” Rinaldi says as one of her top long-lasting makeup tips. “But it will last longer too.” For maximum longevity, opt for a powder foundation instead of liquid formulation.

And swap out your cream blush for a rosy powder equivalent too. “Add an eye-catching statement lip in for an instantly fresher look,” she says.

The statement lip
The easiest way to achieve a full, perfect pout is to use a lip liner, says Rinaldi. “You’re using it to etch out the shape of your lips, not as a full lipstick,” she reminds. Lean your elbow on top of your sink counter or desk (in front of mirror, always!) and rest your pinky finger on your chin to further help steady your hand.

Apply the liner to the lip on an angle, not straight on, and push along the side of the pencil in short, gentle strokes. Move from the middle of the lip to the inner corner. Lightly fill in the rest of the lip lightly with the pencil. “It will give the lipstick something to adhere to,” says Rinaldi. Then gently blot on your lipstick overtop. “Then you won’t have to worry about going over the lip line,” she says.
