It’s cold outside and all we want to do is hibernate, even with our makeup routine. We want to do as little as possible, but still look amazing. We know, we know. That seems like a feat that can’t be conquered – like getting through an episode of
Scandal without your jaw dropping – but in fact, it can be accomplished. All you need are these trusty and secret tips from Grace Lee, lead makeup artist for Maybelline Canada, in your
winter makeup arsenal and you can look amazing with little effort.

“My ideal lazy makeup routine is applying minimal foundation, (Maybelline New York Fresh Dream BB cream for a little bit of coverage and SPF), mascara and blush. I never leave the house without blush,” says Lee. “I tend to rub it into my cheeks and onto my lips when I’m in a hurry.”

Winter beauty: How to save time

“I would say don’t really skip anything that you would normally incorporate into your routine that makes you feel beautiful,” says Lee. The key to the lazy girl’s winter makeup guide is all about time saving tips. “If you are a heavy eye makeup wearer, do your eyes first before you apply foundation or concealer. This will save you from cleaning up a mess
under your eyes, having to re-do any part of your face that gets smudged,” Lee suggests. “Products that take care of more than one step are also great. BB Creams cover you for moisturizer, SPF and foundation – no excuse not to protect your skin now!”

Winter beauty: The bare minimum

“My rule is that mascara is a must. Don’t leave home without it,” says Lee. “You can easily incorporate cheek and lip into one product with very little time or effort, and it makes a world of a difference and wakes up your face.”

Winter beauty: Think multi-use

Make the most of your time and the products that you already have by finding new ways to use them. “Think outside the box for making products work double duty for you. It will definitely save you time and money. For example, you can use a lipstick and take a bit of that colour and rub it into your cheeks for instant blush.”

Three winter makeup looks that take little effort:

Winter beauty: Beautiful skin

The key to looking beautiful without spending loads of time in the mirror? Get your skin in check by making it even-toned and smooth. “Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser is a no brainer when you want amazing looking skin,” advises Lee. The product helps minimize pores, giving your skin a more polished, even appearance. Wear it across the T-zone and other places where you
want to minimize pores. Add a touch of foundation (Lee suggests blending it down your nose and forehead, then blend out to the hairline for quick, easy coverage, then add powder to finish it off. TRY: Fit Me Shine Free Foundation stick or Dream Wonder Powder.

Winter beauty: Nudes or the no makeup look

“Nudes are huge this season and will also be big for spring,” explains Lee. “I love multi-purpose products like the new Master Glaze stick in Warm Nude. You can swipe a bit of the colour across the eyelids, and use it as a blush and contour colour. It’s also great for the lips.”

Winter beauty: A bright Lip

When you have a strong focal point like a bold lip, the rest of your makeup can be super minimal. Lee suggests keeping skin fresh by using a
BB cream and a coat of mascara. Then apply your bold lip colour. Lee recommends Maybelline’s Colour Elixir since it wears like a lipstick but has the sheen and ease of gloss. “If you are feeling adventurous, you can apply a bit of the colour onto the apples of your cheeks for color and blend with your finger,” adds Lee.
