When you’re Jennifer Aniston you should never, ever take chances on your hair. Because, let’s face it. Jen’s hair is one of her best and most envied assets (beside her killer bod and never ending summer glow). So when an Instagram photo popped up of her and her hair stylist Chris McMillan with newly short locks (cut into a slightly shaggy chin-length bob that appears to be shorter than she’s gone before), I immediately thought “what went wrong?” Jen’s no stranger to choppy bobs – but they rarely last a long time with her. Long smooth hair is her signature look. She finally admitted that her short hair cut came partly from wanting to get her hair back to a healthy place after a bad reaction to a keratin treatment (which has had its share of controversy over the past couple of years). “It wasn’t for a role. My hair went through a phase,” she told ElleUK.com. “I did this thing called a Brazilian and my hair did not react really well to it.” Among other things, add in in her colouring process and I’m sure she needed a healthy trim. And while I’m a fan of taking a few inches off for a healthy, fresh start (I recently lopped off 3 ½ inches of dead ends, while two other ELLE Canada staffers also went for major cuts in the past month – we’re obviously fans of short hair here), Jen’s look seems to fall a bit flat. Maybe I just need to see it in full red carpet glory to love it. On a side note -- this may mean we’ll have to wait a while longer to see her walk down the aisle, if she holds true to the idea that most brides ant long hair on their wedding day. Do you like Jennifer Aniston’s new shorter do? When do you think she’ll tie the knot?
