"It’s kind of a very glamorous, Michael Kors take on Thelma & Louise," the designer told us backstage at New York Fashion Week. "If they had a lot of fabulous clothes in the trunk of the car, I think that would be the beauty look.” READ MORE: The new way to do opulence, as seen at Michael Kors

Point of reference: Rachel Green and Monica Geller from Friends

“The HBA beauty look was very inspired by cosmetic surgery and scarring," said lead Bumble and bumble stylist Amy Farid. Point of reference: Party people

“This season Narciso imagined the city’s modern cool girl, the epitome of elegance, but who isn’t afraid to hit the town with abandon. She is simultaneously glamorous yet carefree, unafraid to wear off her full face of makeup or mess up her hair dancing into the hours of the night," says Deborah Lippmann, lead manicurist for the show. "Here, her hair is still wet with sweat, her makeup now ‘invisible' and hands looking lifeless...I translated this elegant chaos by doing the reverse of what this girl normally does...rather than layer a shimmer over a nude, we modernized it by placing a nude over a holographic shimmer lacquer, My Dirty Little Secret, a brand new shade for Spring 2016." Point of reference: Diane von Furstenberg

"Whether in Ibiza, Portofino, Los Angeles or Bali, I love seeing all the girls head out at night with their natural waves fresh from the beach, just tucked behind their ear with a flower," says von Furstenberg. "It reminded me of how I used to wear my own hair back in the 1970s and I wanted Orlando [Pita, New York Fashion Week Ambassador for TRESemmé] to inject that carefree vibe into the show.” READ MORE: Another compelling reason to quit drinking diet pop right now

Point of reference: The Virgin Suicides

“It’s more about being brushed and being soft, opposed to the beachy, grungy, nothing hair,” says Bumble and bumble editorial stylist Jordan M. “The hair is very simple, but for me, this still feels expensive. It kind of reminds me of [The] Virgin Suicides.” READ MORE: Iconic designer Azzedine Alaia launches a soon-to-be-iconic scent
