1. The Walking-Dead-like strands at Alexander Wang

Katherine Flemming, health & beauty editor: I'm always down with a goth reference, and despite how non-street wearable this look was, I'm kinda into it. Does that make me weird? Good!
Victoria DiPlacido, assistant beauty editor: As much as I loved Lizzy Caplan as goth-girl Janis Ian in Mean Girls, I much preferred the pared-down look of Lindsay Lohan’s Cady Heron. Plus, I imagine having hair strewn across my face for prolonged periods would only lead to breakouts.
Charlotte Herrold, associate fashion editor: I have to say, I kind of love this. But considering it's is pretty much a longer version of EXACTLY what my hair looks like when I get out of the shower, I’m definitely biased.

2. The leather pony ties at Derek Lam

KF: Word has it that hair guru Orlando Pita spent his Valentine's Day creating these leather ties. WHERE CAN I BUY ONE? This is set to be the season of hair accessories. Paired with a sleek 'tail, this was a glamourous and refined execution.
VDP: Ponytails are huge for spring 2015, and I'm thrilled that the trend will continue into the fall. A low, sleek pony with a crisp leather tie is a go-anywhere, do-anything kind of look. You really can’t go wrong!
CH: The polished, low pony is definitely having a moment, and I love how the look is complemented here with an equally sleek-yet-understated accessory. This is worth growing out my bob for.

3. The hypnotic two-tone nails at Wes Gordon

KF: Canada's own manicurist Rita Remark conceived this two-tone (and double textured) look that prompted instant-double takes. I loved how multi-dimensional the effect was.
VDP: This isn’t nail art, Remark told reporters – it’s nail fashion. Whatever you call it, I’m in.
CH: This is probably my favourite use of matte polish to date. A simple yet striking contrast that works so perfectly for Wes Gordon’s modern-lady collection.

4. The silver lashes at Carolina Herrera

KF: Silver glitter sprinkled on lashes? I'm dying. I'm dead. Come revive me! This aesthetic was especially pleasing given New York's usual nude (makeup) attitude. And it wasn't garish in the least.
VDP: Diane Kendal has created the water nymph look of my dreams, from the matte berry lip and glossy lids, to the silver, glittery lashes.
CH: I’m very drawn to the idea of glam, glittery makeup to elevate a pared-down cozy fall/winter wardrobe. This is Ice Queen chic in the best possible way.

5. The striking matte lip at Monique Lhullier

KF: A bold, matte lip will forever be close to my heart. I loved Val Garland's use of M.A.C liquid lipstick and Ruby Woo lip pencil here. Garland called this look an "homage to La Moss.”
VDP: Between the heavily lined eye and amazing red matte lip, no-makeup-makeup this is decidedly not. Finally!
CH: Perfect red pout: check. Smouldering smokey eye: check. This high-drama beauty pairing is a classic for a reason.
