It takes a lot to
impress a beauty editor
. Now imagine, trying to impress 44 of them! Each year ELLE international asks all its beauty stars to
rate their favourite products.
One of this year’s winners is GlamGlow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask. I'm totally hooked on clay masks. (I must have about 10 of the on the go right now.) So, I was curious to try this brand to see why my fellow ELLE sisters had anointed it a beauty-must.)
Does GlamGlow live up to the hype?
I tried both of their star products. First, the
GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglefoliate Treatment,
which contains French clay, volcanic rock and green tea leaves and is supposed to give you a “three-day glow, soft and smooth skin and tightened pores.” When you apply it, there’s a tingling sensation and then a strangely comforting tightening sensation as the mud dries on your face. I left it on for 20 minutes and then gently removed it with a warm cloth. My skin—which was showing the telltale signs of winter dryness—was left feeling moisturized, soft and luminescent. (I swear the light reflected off my cheeks.)
A few days later, I tried the GlamGlow Super-Mud Clearing Treatment. It contains charcoal that targets blackheads, ingrown hairs and razor bumps. The mud, which smells like delicious licorice-tinged eucalyptus, draws out "gunk" while BHA and AHA acids help to soften and brighten your skin. (Unlike Mr. Bublé, I didn’t feel compelled to post an Instagram shot of my face.) I'd give them both "glowing" reviews.
