Created by hairstylist Peter Butler, this updo took the idea of a classic chignon and combined it with the so-popular-it-hurts fishtail braid to create something fresh, exciting and elegant. To get a look like this, you’ll need to start by making a fishtail braid and then roughing it up a little around the edges (take note: the key to a modern, youthful updo is that things are not perfect). Then anchor it to your head with lots of hair pins and a massive cloud of hairspray. The messier it gets as the night wears on, the better.
