We take a look back at some of the career highs and standout moments in the history of Canada’s top beauty brand, Lise Watier.

Recently the Canadian beauty brand Lise Watier
celebrated its fortieth anniversary. As a collection of editors gathered to toast the entrepreneurial success of one of Canada’s most notable companies it struck me not only how many amazing products Lise Watier had created, but how many of those products were actually found in my own makeup kit (the
Portfolio Professional Corrector Palette and Féline HD eyeliner to name a few). Turns out, I was not alone in being a Lise Watier devotee.

In Canada, one of the brand’s smudge-proof, waterproof eyeliners is sold every three minutes and over 56,000 bottle of their firming Teint Lift Anti-Rides SPF 20 is sold every year. Not only is the Portfolio Professional Corrector Palette the number one selling corrector in Canada (seriously, its ability to mask dark circles verges on the divine), but also the AC Nielsen Market Track states that the number one lipstick in Canada is the Rouge Gourmand lipstick.

The secret to the beauty brand’s success not doubt lies in the passion and devotion of Lise Watier. Lise Watier’s passion for beauty started at a very young age but it wasn’t until she read Helena Rubinstein’s biography at age 19, that she decided to work towards her dream of making a difference in women’s lives through makeup. “My desire to make women
look more beautiful, feel more empowered and be more confident,” says Watier. After a brief stint as a television host, Watier founded the Lise Watier Institute in 1968. Four years later, Lise Watier Cosmétiques was launched. Now, as the number one prestige cosmetic company in Canada we take a look back at some of the iconic moments through the Canadian beauty brand’s last 40 years.

Canadian beauty brand: Memorable dates in Lise Watier’s history

1972: The year Lise Watier Cosmetiqués was founded

1987: The year Lise Watier receives La Presse’s Award of Excellence in “Business, Administration and Institutions” category.

1991: The year Lise Watier was appointed a member of the Order of Canada.

1988: The year Lise Watier becomes a member of the “Federal Committee on Free Trade” (International Trade Advisory Committee)

1998: The Montreal Marketing Association tribute awarded to Lise Watier.

2000: Lise Watier is appointed as an Officer of the National Order of Quebec.

2009: The Canadian Women’s Executive Network names Lise Watier one of the most powerful women in the entrepreneurs’ category.

Lise Watier cosmetics: Fall 2012 sneak peek

Inspired by vintage wine country, the Millésime collection includes rich and decadent colour palettes that are reminiscent of
Niagra vineyards. This coming fall create a sultry smoky eye using the Eye Shadow Quartet in Les Vins; a perfect pairing of seduction and elegance.

Adding to the wine these is the luxe Rouge Gourmand Lipstick in Shiraz. This wine-stained shade reminds us of the bold an seductive lips seen on the catwalks of Nina Ricci, Etro and Gucci (and our
August 2012 cover!).

Though these makeup shades are sure to be a rare and highly covetable vintage, we can’t wait for the upcoming Lise Watier eCommerce site to launch (expected this fall). We’ll never have to go without our Professional Portfolio Corrector Palette again.
