Stephanie Mark has made a name for herself as one half of the duo behind The Coveteur, a website that documents the closets of some of fashion’s biggest names. Alongside co-founder Jake Rosenberg, Mark has released a coffee table book called The Coveteur: Private Spaces, Personal Style featuring 43 exclusive profiles of designers, trendsetters, and icons (hello, Hugh Hefner!) We caught up with Mark to talk about OTT collections, starstruck moments, and being “adopted” by Bobbi Brown.
“Christian Louboutin was really special. He’s so kind, and he’s only asked five or six press outlets in his house throughout his career. Being in his space, hearing him tell the story of how we got started—he’s an icon in fashion but he’s an icon to everyone. To have that one on one time with him was so special. I was really nervous, and I don’t get nervous that much!”

“Suzanne Rogers is a collector in the truest form, she really champions designers she works with and buys from. She gets to know the designers and supports them. Shooting her closet took a long time, we walked in and were like ‘We’re gonna need more people at this shoot. We need to call for back-up reinforcements!’”
“For Cindy Crawford, we were nervous and excited, it was an ‘oh my god pinch me’ moment. Just because of the impact she’s had on the industry. Her house is so stunning in Malibu, right by the water. It was jaw-dropping. She is so lovely, and laid-back, and talked about her cottage in Muskoka.”

“We are in people’s houses, so it’s not uncommon for people to feed us, we lie in people’s beds. Bobbi Brown, she literally adopted us. She sent us home with food—we were staying at an AirBNB and she was like ‘There’s no food there!’ Jake went to her house for the Jewish holidays.”
It's often overlooked that Victoria Beckham, though assumedly the poshest of the Spices, is delightfully funny. After her Spring/Summer 2017 show at NYFW, she presented her debut makeup collection with Estée Lauder, and interrupted herself to question whether she could say her go-to makeup was sexy. "I'm not saying that I'm sexy," she laughed.
"I’m not a model. I am a woman who has four children," Beckham told us. "I’m a working mom and I am hoping that women all around the world can really relate to me."
"I’ve worn makeup for as long as I can remember," she continued. "I remember going to school when I was really really young, and my mom getting her lipstick and literally putting it on my cheeks and saying, 'You look a bit peaky.' I don’t think I ever go out without makeup on, I like to celebrate being a woman. It is definitely a huge part of who I am, and who my customer is as well."

"I’m super excited about this Morning Aura," says Beckham. "I said to Sarah [Creal, global partnership initiatives at Estée] when we started to work together, 'Though I know this is a makeup collection and not skincare at this stage, when I get on a flight from London, sit on the plane for 11 hours, then I get off and I am photographed, I want something that is moisturizing, something that will act as a primer, close the pores, lift and give me that beautiful, youthful glow.' I mean who doesn't want that youthful glow? Especially when you’ve been sitting on a flight for so long. They helped me [create] that – because that was asking a lot! – and actually we did it with Morning Aura. This is something that I use underneath and on top of makeup. I’ll put it on my collar bone, on my legs, it's so yummy."

"When I travel around the world, I am staying in hotels where the lighting is horrible," says Beckham. "You can never get a decent mirror in the right lighting. So I said, 'Wouldn't it be great if we could create a mirror that had proper makeup lighting around it, and you could travel with that thing, whatever it is?' Sarah [Creal, global partnership initiatives at Estée] and Richard [Ferretti, global creative director for Estée] came to me, very excited with a light box that comes with a collection of makeup. You can actually take out [the mirror]. It's battery operated, it's really light, you can throw it in your suitcase and you have proper makeup lighting."

‘Twas the night before my interview with Dree Hemingway, the face of Chloé Fleur de Parfum, and I found myself lost in the depths of her Instagram feed. The model/actress' stream of chic bohemian photos had me double tapping, wondering how I could also be this inherently cool. The next morning when the interview started, I was thrilled to discover our mutual love for vintage shopping (as one feels when they discover some level on which they can relate to a model). “I really wish I had more time in Toronto to explore all of the vintage shops!" she enthused. "You guys have so many!”
Hemingway (yes, she's the kin of esteemed American novelist Ernest Hemingway), is widely known for her laid-back attitude and no-makeup aesthetic. When I asked her about this, she laughed. “If you cover yourself up too much, your spirit can’t shine through!” But, of course!

“Sometimes it can be easy to get pigeonholed as a 'blond'. I got my septum piercing to be a little bit different, to let people know I’m not what they might expect. I got it pierced this past June, but I go through phases of loving it and wanting to take it out. That's why I could never get a tattoo.”
"[I admire] French women. I lived in Paris when I first started modelling and would observe their approach to beauty. Nothing is fussy. If they put a lip on, that’s it. They only accent one element. [I'm also inspired by] '70s beach vibes and my aunt Margaux; I have so many beautiful photos of her. I’ve always been attracted to the Chloé woman and her way of life, the ease. It's light, delicate and free-spirited."
“I think that it is really nice to let your natural colouring shine through. I never cover my cheeks with foundation or anything, and I don’t cover my eyes either, because I like the natural pigmentation that your body has. It's almost like your own natural eyeshadow.”
