charlotte_Stockwell_JO_Malone I can’t recall a time when someone didn’t express overt enthusiasm for a Jo Malone candle. Even
Kate Middleton loves them—she famously lit several Jo Malone candles and had them sprinkled throughout the venue on her big day. Apparently she used Orange Blossom, Grapefruit, and Lime, Basil and Mandarin. Nonetheless, ELLE Canada was given exclusive access to Charlotte Stockdale, style editor of Jo Malone London. Here’s what she had to say about the strangely wonderful Tomato Leaf candle, which is part of the brand’s
Just Like Sunday collection, which is on counters now.
Q: What is your first scent memory? A: Getting off the plane in Greece.  It would smell like oregano, sage and hot herbs and foliage.
Q: Which scent makes you feel safe and comforted? A: I love rose, geranium and the clean and calming scent of lavender.  The scent of green vine evokes childhood memories of time spent with my mother in the garden and incense reminds me of going to church with my family every Sunday through my childhood years. I still do when I go back home to the country.
Q: What scent did your mother wear? My mother wore a lot of scents, she was a scent hoarder!   From what I can remember, she wore Chanel no 5, Poison by Dior, Joy by Jean Patou.  She went through a period of trying everything under the sun. She bought a scent every single time she either went shopping in London or was traveling, so there’s a massive collection at home of every single brand you can possibly imagine with bottles dating back to the 60’s and 70’s. I used to love the bottles so I used to ask her if I could have them.  I never really liked the scents that much as I tend to like more natural scents.  The Shu Uemura, Shiseido and Kenzo bottles were beautiful.
