Fiorio-Haircut

If you are anything like me, the thought of hiking up one of the world’s tallest mountains is exhausting – let alone actually climbing it. If, however, I was promised a haircut at the summit of said mountain, I suspect my motivation would increase tenfold. Maurice Fiorio, founder of Fiorio salons and Canadian spokesperson for Revlon Professional products, recently offered one lucky climber just that: a haircut at 19,341 feet. Fiorio performed the chop (which is currently under review by the Guinness Book of World Records for the title of World's Highest Altitude Haircut) at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in support of the National Advertising Benevolent Society – a registered charity that assists industry professionals who are experiencing emotional, financial or physical hardships. At 65, Fiorio prepared for his impressive seven-day climb up the world's tallest free-standing mountain with a solid diet, daily runs and hikes up 1,500 steps. At the summit, he had to work his magic while dealing with wind, cold and the threat of altitude sickness. And you thought chopping off a whole three inches during your last haircut was adventurous. See photos of the cut after the jump...
