For World Cancer Day – February 4th – we’re highlighting some of the work the Canadian beauty industry is doing to support women in the fight against cancer. For 23 years, big players in the industry – like Coty, Estée Lauder, Hudson’s Bay, L’Oréal, P&G, Shoppers Drug Mart and Unilever – have banded together to help women through the “cancer blues” with two free programs: Look Good Feel Better, a workshop that teaches cosmetic hygiene and hair alternatives to help women look and feel more like themselves during treatment; and FacingCancer.ca, an online community where women can share their experiences living with the disease. Under the new identity Beauty Gives Back, launched at this year’s Mirror Ball fundraiser, the charitable foundation aims to renew awareness of the emotional toll that cancer and cancer treatment takes on patients.
