This sleek, graphic one from the Osklen Spring/Summer 2014 show is a perfect example of a sophisticated look for your wedding day - or a big evening out. Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders created this "high performance ponytail" to play off the luxurious yet urban collection designed by Oskar Metsavaht. “The collection also features a lot of v-shapes in the necklines, which we recreated in the shape of the hair in the back," said Beenders. "It’s a very luxurious collection, so we wanted the hair to be luxurious as well.” Here's how to get the look at home. Seriously - it's totally possible. (Or, just do as I do and print a photo and shove it under your hairdresser's nose. You decide.) 9738967830_4bff3b818d_h 1. Start with hair that has been blown dry and straight. Use a flat iron in sections to ensure that everything is super smooth and straight. Beenders used a light coat of Aveda Air ControlTM Hair Spray before ironing. 2. Part hair across the crown of the head, in order to create two sections. Gather the bottom section into a ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with elastic. 3. On the right side of your head, part the top section of your hair at a slight diagonal, creating two separate sections. 4. Separate a small section of hair from the back of the right section with a fine tooth comb. Using copious amounts of hair spray, comb hair back toward the nape of the neck, tight to the head. Layer each section over the previous to create a sleek, smooth side. 9738967438_e7b2f1dd3c_z 5. Gather this section at the nape and cross over the top of the ponytail and clip. 6. Repeat the process on the left section. Then, the left section and cross over the ponytail. Release the right side, wrap ends under the ponytail and tie into a knot. Secure with hair pins. 7. If you want extra shine or impact, you can use a hair colour brush to paint on a layer of hair gel. 9735727665_a38540eef4_b
