"When I travel, I always bring a sketchbook," supermodel Daria Werbowy told ELLE -- and what better companion than a local artist in the know? Painted lady If you think you may have the soul of da Vinci but the taste of Catherine the Great, you're unlikely to want to hang out in a garret. Flying colours "There are definite similarities between painting a flat canvas and a 3-D face," says Toronto-based makeup artist Alex Borovoy, who began his career as an abstract painter. "With both, you can work with brushes to master colour, shading and dimension." With jet-set clients like Shalom Harlow and Alanis Morissette on his resume, Borovoy knows how to keep in-flight makeup fresh. "Less is more! The plane's lack of humidity dehydrates the skin, so keep drinking water and use a good moisturizer."
