Top 10 fashion faux pas of 2007

A look at the trends that should have never made the cut.

By Nancy Won

Ghetto Gold
This year Hollywood princesses inexplicably ditched their Tiffany baubles in favour of ghetto fabulousness in the form of humongous gold, bamboo-molded earrings. Popularlized by Salt-n-Pepa in the 90s and unfortunately revived by the likes of Lily Allen and Rihanna, these chunky door knocker mega-hoops are best left to fade into fashion history -- your lobes will thank you.

Head Gear
Who knew that when turbans hit the runway at Prada's spring showing that fashionistas like Naomi Campbell, Beyonce, Demi Moore and Mary Kate Olsen (okay, maybe Mary Kate) would be caught dead wearing this unflattering head wrap. Not to mention the boho-meets-Axl-Rose head scarves that spawned from this bad fashion moment.

Oversized-Oversized Tunics
In-the-know style mavens knew to play with volume in 2007 but when it comes to oversized, it's easy to go overboard. Voluminous tunics with leggings and flats was one thing but too many unsuspecting women went from maven to mumu with risky oversized-oversized tunics -- even Kate Moss or Jennifer Lopez couldn't pull off this potato-sack look without looking dowdy and shapeless.

All-Over Print Hoodies
What began as a bold, style statement by uber-fashionable street kids shelling out up to $400 per limited edition zip-up in 2005 descended into the ridiculous this year thanks to cheap knock-offs, surgary patterns and chain stores like H&M and Wal-Mart, who pumped them out at $10 a pop.

Suspender Shorts
Sometimes the worst ideas are the result of two great ideas coming together. Take for example shorts (fabulous!) and the menswear-inspired look (brilliant!) -- bring them together in unholy matrimony and out pops…suspender shorts? Half dosey-do, half auto mechanic, this is one lovechild that's 100 percent lost in translation.
