Hotel Luise's ladies in red
|
|
A hot new trend in the hotel world is for artists to play interior designer. Funky, amusing, whimsical and sexy, these customized cribs are the last word in installation art.
The Gladstone Hotel, Toronto. www.gladstonehotel.com Local talent transformed 37 of the hotel's rooms in Toronto's art and design district. Try out Cecilia Berkovic's Teen Queen -- a playful homage to girlie sleepovers -- or the tongue-and-cheek Canadiana Room by The Big Stuff & Jenny Francis.
Dominion Hotel, Vancouver. www.dominionhotel.ca Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design grads and street artists have pepped up this landmark hotel. Pop on 3-D glasses for Michael Gotziaman's groovy black and crimson Wonderlust room, with its sparkly red-light chandelier.
Hotel + Kunstlerheim Luise, Berlin. www.kuenstlerheim-luise.de German creativity showcased in a renovated neoclassical palace. Choose betwen the African-inspired Safari room or Elvira Bach's provocative ladies in red (Drei Damen in Rot) in Room 101.
