Sexy in the City cocktails

If you have grown tired of the Cosmo (haven't we all?), stir up an elixir of passion with one of these sexy cocktails.

By Ryan Jennings and David Steele

Sunken Treasure
Freezing pomegranate juice in decorative trays is an easy and inexpensive way to add drama to this otherwise ordinary cocktail. Heart-shaped ice cube trays are perfect if you can find them. If not, fill a regular ice tray half full and place in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until firm. The frozen juice will slowly melt in the drink, turning it a blushing shade of pink. You can find heart-shaped trays at specialty kitchen stores or online at www.abestkitchen.com.

2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. Limoncella
1-2 pomegranate ice cubes

Shake vodka and Limoncella in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with pomegranate ice cubes.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry
Nothing is more sexy then strawberries dipped in chocolate. This drink encompasses that famous flavour combination.

1 oz. white crème de cacao
3/4 oz. strawberry liqueur or syrup
Milk

Pour crème de cacao, strawberry liqueur and milk into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprinkling of cocoa and a fresh strawberry.

Grand Gesture
Don't wait for someone else to make the first move. Stir up an elixir of passion by trying this bubbly and refreshing cocktail.

1 oz. Grand Marnier
Squeeze fresh lime juice
Cranberry juice
Ginger ale

Pour Grand Marnier and lime juice into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with cranberry juice and a splash of ginger ale. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Rose Royale
A heady combination of cognac, vodka, passion fruit, strawberry, lychee and, of course, rose essence, Alize Rose is the perfect accompaniment to a dry sparkling wine. Keep in the refrigerator so there's no need to dilute it with all that pesky ice.

3/4 oz. Alize Rose
Sparkling wine

Add Alize Rose to a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist.
