Top 10 fashion faux pas of 2007

A look at the trends that should have never made the cut.

By Nancy Won

Check out one fashion item that never goes out of style -- the LBD

White Wayfarers
2007 marked the return of the classic Wayfarer and while fashion saavy guys and gals channeled Tom Cruise in Risky Business or Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's in their retro shades, more than a few misguided souls (including Drew Barrymore and Kirsten Dunst) ended up looking less classic, more plastic, in the lighter, whiter version.

Skull Overkill
Not since the explosion of the luxury monogram has a single symbol been over-done, over-used and over-worn quite so much as the skull in recent seasons. Blame it on Alexander McQueen, heck, blame it on the Hell's Angels, but one thing is for certain, skulls are officially dead… again.

Leggings as Pants
Leggings with a flirty frock we love; leggings with a long, belted sweater we love; leggings with a short-cropped t-shirt -- hold it right there! You have the right to remain silent and we have the right not to see your VPL. Leggings as pants? Don't stretch your luck, Lindsay.

Palestinian Scarves
When New York hipsters started sporting traditional Palestinian scarves with their urban uniform of tees, skinnies and Converse sneakers a few years back it was controvertial, edgy and could get you bumped to the front of the cue at a hot club. Now that it's filtered down to the mallrat masses, this once controvertial accessory has lost it's VIP status and does naught but smack of effort like on Delta Goodrem.

Metallic Legs
A splash of sequins never hurt anyone -- unless, of course, they're on your pants. Victoria Beckham and Mischa Barton found themselves on the ugly end of the metallic trend when they donned these dazzlingly unflattering sequined pants. Even worse were this year's metallic leggings, which only draw attention to problem areas with incessant wrinkling, puckering and, best of all, shine.
