The look: Short boyish crop Everyone from smokin' hot Rihanna to model-of-the-moment Agyness Deyn are sporting cropped cuts with shorter locks in the back and long, angular pieces in the front giving a modern and edgy twist to the androgyny look. "There are actually many more opportunities than people think with short hair," says Ritcey. "You can go very smooth for a boyish look or add some waves, curls or texture with heating objects, or even slick the hair back off the face for a very elegant look." What you need: To keep your hair from going too flat, use a volumizing spray such as Redken's Work Force throughout the hair. How to get it: After washing your hair use a small amount of Work Force spray to help achieve style while blow drying, curling or straightening. You can add more as you style to build up volume and texture. Then top it off with a finishing spray.
The colour look: Red-hot Last year it was all about the cool brunettes and blondes. This season it's time to let the redheads shine! "Right now red is super hot. By fall we will see more auburns, pumpkins and spiced reds," says Ritcey. So try adding a little flash of red to your colour with highlights if you're not into going full-out red. For warmer skin tones choose red infused with coppers and golds; for cool skin tones opt for wines and burgundies. Keep it fresh: Colouring your hair is an investment -- so buying the right products to protect your colour is key. Ritcey suggests using Redken's Colour Extend line to keep your colour fresh. "It has UV filters, ions blockers and silicon to maintain that healthy colour." Try Redken's UV Rescue line (for both coloured and non-coloured hair) to protect your locks from damaging UV rays all summer long.
