Size matters

When it comes to fall hairstyles, the bigger, the better!

By Vanessa Milne

For fall, think volume. Think big, bouncy honey-coloured curls down your back. "Think Jessica Simpson in the Dukes of Hazzard," says celebrity hairstylist Marc Anthony, whose client roster includes the likes of Paris Hilton and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Don't worry if curls are not your natural tendency. This look works on all hair types, in fifteen minutes – we promise.

The colour
Any colour is fine, as long as it has warm tones in it: gold or caramel, strawberry blondes, auburn and mahogany. "You want to get a little bit more of that warmth in there, and that brings back the glamour which is what the season's going to be about," says Marc. As an added bonus, most skin tones look best against these colours.

The cut
Strike a balance between Texas belle hair and flat hair with long layers. "The length ranges from just below the chin to as long as you'd like," says Marc. "But as a rule of thumb, [layers] shouldn't be more than two or three inches shorter than your length," says Marc. Bangs match the bombshell look, straying from last season's geometric shapes back to natural, glamorous bangs -- no shorter than the bridge of your nose.
