Beauty news: Peachy keen

What's hot this month? ELLE's editors pick the best of the beauty crop.

Ask a derm
Q:What's the best way to tone down self-tanner streaks without aggravating my sensitive skin?

A:"Take a bath, and use a body scrub to exfoliate the darkened skin cells,” says Dr. Lisa Kellett of DLK On Avenue (www.dlkonavenue.com). “A scrub with large particles is best, but if you have sensitive skin, use any exfoliant that doesn't irritate you. After your bath, go for a moisturizer that contains alpha-hydroxy or beta-hydroxy acid to further slough the skin. Follow this routine twice a day for about two weeks. Professional crystal or diamond micro-dermabrasion treatments can also do the trick"

Objective corrective

• What is it? Vichy Laboratoires Dermablend Corrective Cosmetics: High Coverage Corrective Foundation, Setting Powder and Corrective Foundation.

• What does it do? The cream foundation and setting powder cover skin imperfections -- from skin lesions to vitiligo to tattoos -- for 16 hours, while the liquid foundation offers natural-looking coverage for minor skin flaws -- like uneven tone and enlarged pores -- for 12 hours.

• How does it work? This line of highly corrective and waterproof products was created by dermatologists and is also used by plastic surgeons as an alternative and complementary therapy to surgery. The cream foundation is 40-percent pigment, making it twice as opaque as ordinary foundation. It can be used as a spot treatment or as a regular foundation. The transparent micronized setting powder keeps the foundation in place without affecting its colour and gives the skin a matte finish. The liquid foundation also offers twice the coverage of traditional foundation. Its mix of volatile silicone, polymers and 25-percent pigment concentration provides the product's uniform colour and hold.
