This season's at-home hair-removal products are all about greater comfort and convenience, with organic ingredients, improved moisturizers and new scents that promise a smooth transition to bikini season.
Shavers
The Schick Quattro for Women Go! Razor features four diamond-coated blades to guard against nicks and comes with a travel case. The BIC Soleil Twilight is available in four shades of pink and purple, and its handle is infused with the soothing scent of lavender. It also has lubricating strips with lanolin, vitamin E, aloe vera and shea butter, which help moisturize sensitive and dry skin.
Depilatories
The latest products from Nair and Sally Hansen have advanced formulas that target coarse, stubborn hair while protecting skin with natural ingredients such as grape-seed oil and hollyhock and marine extracts. New VEET In-Shower Hair Removal Cream is a unique, water-resistant formula that works while you take your morning shower. It comes in lavender, vanilla, aloe vera and summer fruit scents.
Waxes
Parissa 2 in 1 Roll-on for Legs, Face & Bikini is strip-free. Its sphere-shaped design and rollers -- a large one for the legs and a small one for the bikini area -- give you excellent control and precision. The light textured wax spreads evenly and grabs hold of hard-to-reach hairs. Sally Hansen Express Wax Hair Removal Kit for Face & Body comes in a delectable chocolate aroma.
Laser
Most laser technology is designed to eliminate darker hair: the laser beam targets melanin in the hair and dissolves the follicle with a blast of light, says Dr. Gerald Boey, a Vancouver-based cosmetic laser surgeon. Breakthrough The Comet is the first laser claiming to remove blond, red and grey hair using a combination of laser light technology and radio frequency. Reviews are mixed. "Some people respond really well," says Boey, "but it's still a gamble." Price Bikini, $100 to $250 per treatment, four to eight treatments recommended; underarms, $100 to $150 per treatment, six to eight treatments recommended; legs, $200 to $450 per treatment, six to eight treatments recommended.
