Miss Blush gives tips on picking the best colours for you!
Q: What colour of eyeshadow looks good on people with fair skin, blue eyes and long eyelashes, but dark lips?
A: I asked my pal Sara Whittaker, Clinique's National Education Director, for advice. Here's her response:
"The goal with those who have naturally dark lips is to keep the focus on the mouth and not to detract or overdo it with too much colour on the eye. Soft blue-grey and taupe shades look fabulous on blue eyes. Your best value is an eyeshadow compact like Clinique's Eye Shadow Quad in Polar Blue that offers several complementary shades, allowing for a variety of looks. Use the deeper shade of eyeshadow to line the eye. The shadow will create a soft, subtle definition.
"And why not play up your assets by simply enhancing the length of your lashes? Try a mascara like Clinique's Long Pretty Lashes in Black/Brown to showcase long, soft and natural-looking lashes. Keep lip colour similar to the natural colour of your lips -- a clear gloss shade would look terrific as well."
Q: How do I pick the right eyeshadow? I have green eyes -- what colour of eyeshadow and blush would look right without looking too gaudy?
A: Choosing the best makeup colours often entails a lot of trial and error -- and who has time for that? So to give you a head start on picking the best shades for you, I asked my friend Melissa Gibson of M.A.C for her advice. She says:
"First and foremost with any type of makeup including eyeshadow, choose colours that make you feel great. However, if you are looking for something that will make your green eyes stand out, then look for colours that have a soft gold undertone. This makes green peepers stand out. Blush should have a soft beige tone to it, but this can vary depending on the skin tone."

Q: I am of Portuguese-Canadian decent. I have slightly olive-coloured skin (more "nude beige" than anything), dark brunette hair and hazel/brown/amber/green eyes. My lips are very bright as well. Can you help me find colours that will work best with my ever-changing eye colour? I tend to stay with taupes and browns (neutral colours). I stay away from bright pinks and purples due to the colour of my lips and if I do wear them I wear a little bit of foundation on my lips to pale them out. Also, what kind of cheek colour should I lean toward? I can't seem to find one that works well. What do you suggest?
A: Anyone who's seen a M.A.C eyeshadow display knows that they are the go-to destination for a wide variety of colours. They've got them all! So it's only natural that I turned to Jane McKay, senior artist at M.A.C, with your question. She says:
"I love to use golds, pinks and plums on olive skin tones. Pinks and plums look fantastic set against olive-coloured skin as they are complementary colours.
"I suggest M.A.C Sheertone Pinch O Peach Blush -- it is a beautiful peachy pink shade that looks fantastic on most skin tones.
"Eyeshadow suggestions: Woodwinked (a warm antique gold), Trax (burgundy plum flecked with bronze) and Mink Pink (mocha pink)."
