When it comes to creating innovative hair tools, Dyson is in a league of its own. On March 18 at a global launch event in Seoul, South Korea, the brand unveiled the Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer—the next progression of their cult-loved Supersonic which launched back in 2016, and their most intelligent hair dryer to date.
A good hair dryer gets the job done, but a great dryer does it without causing too much heat damage. Dyson’s Supersonic Nural goes above and beyond to ensure your hair and scalp remain healthy by utilizing groundbreaking sensor technology.
“What we love about the new technology is that it’s caring for the scalp in a careful way, which we don’t typically see with a lot of blow dryers,” says Sarah Mardis, hair specialist and clinic director for Hårklinikken in New York. “A lot of the time when we [apply] heat on the scalp, it can actually throw off the scalp’s microbiome. This can cause issues like excess dryness on the scalp, which can actually result in texture changes, or your hair being quite dry, brittle and ultimately breaking. Things like too much oil on the scalp—which can happen if there’s too much heat—can cause us to overproduce oil and can lead to things like clogged follicles. Ultimately, if those are left untreated, they can actually scar over, and the hair will no longer grow in those areas.”
With less heat damage comes a healthier scalp, which leads to healthier hair. The new Supersonic Nural includes a new sensor which recognizes the scalp and reduces the heat as it gets closer to it, preventing heat damage to both the scalp and the hair.
In addition to the all-new Scalp protect mode, the dryer includes a new “Attachment learning technology”, which remembers your last-used heat and airflow settings for each attachment, as well as a “pause to detect” feature which deactivates the heater, slows airflow and minimizes noise in between each styling pass. And it’s all thanks to the machine’s revolutionary Nural sensors.
Available in two stunning colour palettes—Ceramic Patina and Topaz and Vinca Blue and Topaz—the Nural has been designed with a clear end cap to allow for a full view of the technology at work within the device.
Each hair dryer comes equipped with five attachments, including the just-dropped Wave+Curl diffuser engineered for styling and drying waves, curls and coils.
Priced at $629.99, The Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer launches in Canada on May 2, 2024. To learn more, head to dysoncanada.ca.
